January 2025 Rainfall (JMA) Analysis

In January 2025, positive rainfall anomalies were observed across Brunei Darussalam and surrounding areas in northern Borneo, along with northern Sumatra, central and eastern Indonesia, and western Papua. In the Philippines, above-normal rainfall was recorded particularly in northern Luzon, parts of the eastern Visayas, and the western portion of Mindanao. Peninsular Malaysia, Singapore, and coastal regions of Sumatra also experienced positive anomalies.

In contrast, negative rainfall anomalies were observed in northeastern and central Thailand, northern Lao PDR, and northern Vietnam. Parts of Indonesia, including Sulawesi, eastern Java, and the southeastern islands, also experienced below-normal rainfall. Southern portions of the Philippines showed some localized dryness as well.

Elsewhere, no significant rainfall anomalies were noted in January 2025.
