Assessment of rainfall for January 2023 showed that positive rainfall anomalies (50 to 250 mm) were observed over south central coast of Vietnam, southern Thailand, most parts of Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and central to southern parts of the Philippines. However, negative rainfall anomalies (-50 to -150 mm) were observed in most parts of Indonesia. Furthermore, the rest of the ASEAN region are within the near normal range (50 to -50 mm).
