In December 2024, warmer-than-average temperatures were widespread across the region. Strong positive temperature anomalies were observed in Myanmar, with particularly intense warming in the northern and western parts of the country. Warmer conditions also extended into northern Lao PDR, northern and central Vietnam, and scattered areas of Thailand and Cambodia.
much of Borneo—including Brunei Darussalam and central Indonesia—as well as Singapore, parts of Peninsular Malaysia, and coastal areas of Papua and Sulawesi, also experienced above-normal temperatures. Slight warming was evident in northern part of the Philippines.
Elsewhere, no other significant temperature anomalies were noted.
