Tropical Cyclone (TC) "Ewiniar", also known as "Aghon" in the Philippines, was the first TC of the 2024 season in the Western Pacific. It originated as a Tropical Depression (TD) east of Mindanao, Philippines, on May 23, 2024, and intensified as it headed northwest, finally becoming a Typhoon (TY) over the Philippines. Ewiniar made many landfalls in the Philippines, especially in Luzon and the Visayas, before moving northeastward and forming an extratropical cyclone near Japan. Ewiniar's passage across the Philippines caused damage to infrastructure and crops, with reports of fatalities and injuries. Some parts of Japan had heavy rains. The cyclone also displaced and affected a vast number of individuals in the affected areas.
