Directly following Bavi's path, Maysak grew into a massive and devastating super typhoon, marking the peak intensity of the season's early months. It violently battered Okinawa and Jeju Island with very strong winds and storm surges. Maysak then slammed into Busan, South Korea, causing massive industrial port damage, widespread blackouts, and tragic casualties across the peninsula.
