In February 2025, prominent northerly to northeasterly winds are observed over the northern and eastern Philippines. Anomalous cyclonic circulation (counterclockwise) was present over the South China Sea, aligning with the negative sea level pressure (SLP) anomalies in the same region.
No other significant wind direction anomalies are noted for the month. Meanwhile, aside from the localized patches of negative SLP anomalies over Indonesia, most of Southeast Asia experiences positive SLP anomalies.
The maps on the right (top to bottom) indicate the observed SLP and wind direction for February 2025, along with the climatological normal from 1991 to 2020, providing context for the anomaly map on the left.
