Assessment of rainfall for August 2023 showed that rainfall anomalies in most parts of the ASEAN region are within the near-normal range (50 to -50 mm). However, positive rainfall anomalies were observed over the northeastern and southwestern Philippines, northern Vietnam, northern, western, and central Myanmar, some parts of northern and central Lao PDR and eastern Thailand, and over northwestern Sumatra and northern West Papua of Indonesia.

Furthermore, southern Vietnam, eastern and western Thailand, central Philippines, northern Cambodia, northwestern and southern Lao PDR, some parts of western, easter, and southern Myanmar, southern parts of Sumatra, West Papua, and Kalimantan, most of Sulawesi and Banda islands of Indonesia are within the negative rainfall anomalies.
