April 2026 Rainfall (JMA) Analysis

In April 2026, rainfall anomalies over Southeast Asia were generally below normal with patches of above normal across much of the region. Below normal rainfall was observed over most of Mainland SEA, Philippines and large portions of Eastern Indonesia reflecting relatively drier conditions in these areas.

Meanwhile, patches of above normal rainfall conditions were recorded in some areas in Mainland Malaysia and more areas in Western Indonesia, reflecting wetter conditions in these areas.

The maps on the right (top to bottom) illustrate the observed rainfall for April 2026 and the corresponding 1991–2020 climatological normal, which provide context for interpreting the rainfall anomaly map shown on the left.
