February 2026 Rainfall (JMA) Analysis

In February 2026, rainfall anomalies over Southeast Asia were generally near normal to above normal across much of the region. Above normal rainfall was observed over large parts of the Maritime Continent, particularly in the Philippines, Indonesia (including Kalimantan and eastern Indonesia), parts of Papua, indicating enhanced rainfall during the month.

Meanwhile, below normal rainfall conditions were recorded in localized areas, notably over some parts of Myanmar, Thailand, and Indonesia, reflecting relatively drier conditions in these areas.

The maps on the right (top to bottom) illustrate the observed rainfall for February 2026 and the corresponding 1991–2020 climatological normal, which provide context for interpreting the rainfall anomaly map shown on the left.
